OVERALLS & PLAID.
One of the biggest trends right now which are making a massive comeback are overalls and plaid anything from shirts, skirts, sweaters etc.
I have been looking for a pair of overalls for the longest time, I finally found a pair at Target and I was like yasssss. Excitement rushhhh.I see the 60's and 80's making a comeback in fashion.
They are sooooo comfortable and can be styled anyway, clipped and unclipped.
Plaid as i said is in ,with many colours but mostly red and burgundy colours.
The overalls are a statement piece which speak for themselves.
My sandals which I'm in love with are the bessssstt, they were a gift.

ADJUDICATE US NOW AND FOREVER
Where do i start from?
Adjudicate basically means to judge, and judging is to something we do every minute of our lives.
I personally think the biggest and quickest people to judge are 90% of Nigerian parents, don't get me wrong i haven't carried out any research possible but i know because i have been judged .
Nigerian parents judge and compare like it's in their blood, they compare each others children trying to prove theirs is the best. Every little mistake made is not only corrected but condemned, ridiculed and JUDGED.
This helps us to be at the tip of our toes, yes,but a child who receives criticism for every move he or she makes would be at a point to afraid to make moves, there will be too much darkness in there. The child, teen or youth at a certain stage won't know what to do in public anymore when they say just be yourself because the self has been lost.
Feelings,Emotions,Response.
Just heard about the story of the dude who received his IGCSE results.
Apparently his results were poor and he knew what was coming next when he showed his parents so he left the school, next thing they know they find his dead body.
This is the third case of suicide which supposedly happened to a nigerian person, but who knows.
The point of this story is not to flippin' bore you but to tell you that if your judged by ANYBODY you shouldn't take it personally because you are better than that. You have been on this earth way too long too care so take the good and drop the nasty, k?
Paraphrase one of the best :"Yeah,my mama she told me don't worry about yourself
She says,People like a little more you, that's right
you know i won't be no crowd pleaser barbie doll
So if thats what you're into then go ahead and move along"

ALL 60’S, ALL
FASHION.
I decided I was going to do an article on the 60’s ‘cos it
is one of my favourite fashion eras
In the 1960’s a number of diverse trends were all brought
together in one great era. When I think of the 60’s all I think of is ‘FLOWER
POWER’,THE BEATLES AND MARY QUANT. The most fashion inclined person of the 60’s
was Mary Quant, this very pretty lady invented the miniskirt. Yep in 1963 this
woman sat down and thought wouldn’t it be so ‘rad’ if we had skirts that were
inches above our knees. This idea blossomed and bloomed cos in no time ,every
woman was wearing these very skirts. Then came the mini-dresses which were
usually A-line or shift dresses, these were worn with boots and goggles.
The leaders of the mid 60’s fashion was definitely the
British, they outshone us all. They were called the Mods (short for Modernist).
Mods were mostly youths, creating their own way of life, starting their own
magazines, television shows etc. They
were known to listen to modern jazz (certainly not my kind of music), but were
really recognized by the public in 1964 ,girls had clean hair cuts and their
musical taste was the exact opposite of their rivals the rockers, who wore
leather jackets, always wore greasy pompadour hairstyles and rode motorbikes.
The Mods always looked classy, they always looked like they
had just stepped out of a high fashion French magazine and Levi’s were the only
types of jeans worn by them. Hemlines kept raising as time moved on and in 1968
they had reached above midthigh thus the micro-mini was born. Of course we had
to have evening wear, which were meagre chiffon dresses with spaghetti straps
referred to as cocktail dresses. Then my
bell bottoms then came waltzing along and kicked capris out of the show (bye
fam).

When I think of the 60’s all I think of is FLOWER POWER,THE
BEATLES AND MARY QUANT.This will never change, the 60’s broke boundaries in
terms of fashion, they said its okay to be different and they stood up for what
they believed in. I have nothing more to say about this wonderful era but I do
know that it has taken me a while to understand them and now I do, and I say
PVC forever! (not :p)

THE AFRICAN TOUCH
WHAT IS AFRICA?
Most common answer; It is one of the continents of the world
inhabited by various races. Don’t let
this be you.
Africa is an entity, a culturally diverse entity .With too
many tribes to count, too many languages to remember and an unlimited variety
of customs and traditions. Really, we are literally talking about a museum in a
continent, with each bonfire, a new story. No one can comprehend with the
amount of history and ethos embodied in this vast ratio of land.
From the arts to the music, from the drama to the dance,
there will never be a dull moment.
Too many leaders,
activist, humanitarians and trail-blazers to list, starting from the award
winning plays of Wole Soyinka to the forever unforgotten acts of the great
Nelson Mandela. All together this terra firma has no limit.
LETS TALK ABOUT ONE OF MY BEST PARTS; MUSIC!
When it comes to African music, the first thing that comes
to mind is Afro-beat and the first person that comes to mind is Fela
Anikulapo-Kuti, c’mon, this man is the king of afro-beat, the king of African
music, with legends like himself African music was created. A little history lesson
on this great man, he hails from the western part of Africa, Nigeria to be
exact, my personal home landJ. He’s music has influenced many others, with
tours around the globe and musical hits which sold millions. His music defied
all odds, he criticized the government, spoke his mind and stuck to what he
believed in. Then there is Mariam Makeba, hailed from South Africa and sang
like no other. Her music inspired many, I personally may not know a lot of her
songs but I know she did contribute greatly to African music.
The basic instrument of African music; it is called a talking drum
Modern day, modern times, modern
music. Music has morphed greatly over the years. Some might say I have only
been around for a fortnight, so what do I know, but trust me I have done my
research. From the beats of Femi Anikulapo Kuti (son of Fela) to the strums of
the guitar owned by the renowned rolling dollar to the DJ productions of our
very own Don jazzy.
Nigerian music has made hits around the continent and the
globe. Many artist and many accomplishments, artist like Davido that started
not too long ago but now can’t walk out of his house for a stroll, artist like
Ice prince who won best international artist (Africa) in the BET awards 2013.
There are hit makers all over the continent who have talents which blow minds.
My favourites’, Sakordie and Toya DeLazy, you should really check out their
music.
Always remember this, African music is food for the soul,
the depth and the intricacy of beats. I promise you, one can’t hear an African
song and not want to dance, besides it’s what we do best.
Basically all I am saying is that Africa is present everywhere,
times are changing. I was flipping through a teen vogue or seventeen magazine
and I found an article on a designer who uses Ankara for her clothes .Which is simply
African print material with the use of various motifs, so don’t forget to be
aware, listen, learn and study because the unadorned touch is the most momentous
touch and that, is the African touch.
